My Heart Will Go On

I Salonisti Play Film Music (CD 1999)

I Salonisti

By James Horner, of course, from the soundtrack score for Titanic. Sounds almost classy in this setting.

Overture/ Prologue/ The Launching

Titanic (OC 1997)

Company

Librettist Peter Stone (1776, Sugar, Will Rogers Follies) says that he and composer/lyricist Maury Yeston (Grand Hotel, Nine, Phantom) discovered that they were both interested in the story of the Titanic while they were working on Grand Hotel. The resulting show was five years in the making, and began its third year on Broadway this past April.

Still

Isidor Straus (the owner of Macy's) and his wife Ida sing of their 40 years together. Ida refuses to leave his side and they die together.

Mr. Andrews' Vision

Michael Cerveris, with Mara Stephens

Thomas Andrews, the architect of Titanic and one of its 1,517 victims, desperately envisions first the redesign of his flawed ship and then, in horrifying detail, the inevitable descent, as the set tips to indicate the sinking of the ship

An Irish Party in Third Class

Back to Titanic (CD 1998)

Gaelic Storm

This CD is largely an attempt to milk more cash from the Titanic cow, but there a few worthwhile cuts on it nevertheless.

The Expedition Begins

Titanic: Anatomy of a Disaster (OS 1997)

Michael Whelan

From the soundtrack recording of the Discovery Channel documentary

The Night of the Disaster

The Unsinkable Molly Brown has music and lyrics by Meredith Willson (The Music Man, Here's Love, 1491), based on the true story of Molly Tobin who married miner "Leadville" Johnny Brown, became fabulously wealthy and, returning from Europe on the Titanic, not only survived but helped save many others from drowning. Hence the title of the musical, which follows the outline of Brown's life with the usual fictional embellishments.

I Ain't Down Yet

Tammy Grimes, Sterling Clark, Bill Starr, Bob Daley

The young Molly Tobin is wrested to the ground by her brothers but refuses to cry "Uncle" and instead issues her battle cry.
