The Spirit Within Final Fantasy (OS 2001) London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices conducted by Dirk Brossé Goldenthal has created works for orchestra, theatre, opera and film. He has received two Oscar® and two Golden Globe nominations for his scores for Interview with a Vampire (1996) and Michael Collins (1996); Grammy nominations for A Time to Kill (1996) and Batman Forever (1995); and three nominations for the Chicago Film Critics Award for Heat (1987), Michael Collins (1996) and The Butcher Boy (1998). Code Red Final Fantasy (OS 2001) London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices conducted by Dirk Brossé Final Fantasy is an SF adventure film (based on a computer game) in which everything – including the actors – has been created with digital animation. Well, in all fairness the digitized actors are real people covered with computer-generated “skins”. The movie web site is www.finalfantasy.com
Toccata and Dreamscapes Final Fantasy (OS 2001) London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices conducted by Dirk Brossé Goldenthal notes that he uses “orchestration techniques associated with the late 20th-centry Polish avant-garde”, some of which can be heard in this cut.
Opening Credits Bride of the Wind (OS 2001) Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra conducted by Frantisek Preisler Bride of the Wind in loosely based on the life of Alma Mahler. The score is by Stephen Endelman (www.stephenendelman.com) but makes extensive use of themes by Alma’s first husband, Gustav Mahler.

The Signature Bride of the Wind (OS 2001) Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Pierre Boulez Music by Gustav Mahler, from the first movement of his Symphony No. 6, often referred to as the “Tragic”.
Alma The Remains of Tom Lehrer (2000) Tom Lehrer Originally issued on That Was the Year That Was (1965), this song was also inspired by the story of Alma Mahler.
The Moon Rising A.I. Artificial Intelligence (OS 2001) Orchestra conducted by John Williams This is Williams’ 17th collaboration with Steven Spielberg over the past 30 years. Some of their big hits: Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List and E.T.
For Always A.I. Artificial Intelligence (OS 2001) Lara Fabian, Josh Groban, Orchestra conducted by John Williams Pop singer Fabian (www.larafabian.com/) had a big hit last summer with “I Will Love Again” and, in an amazing coincidence, sings one of two songs on the Final Fantasy soundtrack; Groban (www.wbr.com/joshgroban) has a debut CD is due out in October from 143/Warner Brothers.
