Show Tune Parade (OC 1960) Company Long out of print, this recording of Jerry Herman's topical satirical revue is now available on Decca. Many of the parody songs now require footnotes, but numbers like this one - extolling the virtues of the good old show tune - never go out of style. Herman later re-used the melody for "It's Today" in Mame.
One Hundred Million Miracles Flower Drum Song (OS 1961) Miyoshi Umeki, Kam Tong, Chorus Another Decca re-issue, this time of the soundtrack of the 1961 film version of the 1958 Rogers and Hammerstein musical about the culture clash between recent immigrants and long-time residents in San Francisco's Chinatown. Long disdained by Chinese-Americans as dealing in stereotypes, the show is being re-worked for Broadway with a new book by David Henry Hwang.
Don't Marry Me Flower Drum Song (OS 1961) Jack Soo, Miyoshi Umeki Nightclub owner Sammy Fong tries to dissuade Mei Li from going through with an arranged marriage to him by detailing his many faults.
Main Title Secretary (OS 2002) Orchestra conducted by Angelo Badalamenti Best known for his work for the Twin Peaks TV series and other David Lynch projects such as Lost Highway (1996) and Wild at Heart (1990), composer Badalamenti has also scored other films and TV shows. Secretary, which was a prize winner at the 2002 Sundance Festival, has a script by Erin Cressida Wilson and is directed by Steven Shainberg.
Chariots Rise Secretary (OS 2002) Lizzie West Written and performed by singer/songwriter Lizzie West
Carol of the Bells The Rules of Attraction (OS 2002) tomandandy One of several original tracks composed for the film by Internet music production company tomandandy. The film appears to be about a collection of college students who are majoring in drug use and sex (in my day, those were just electives...)
Six Different Ways The Rules of Attraction (OS 2002) The Cure This is typical of the rest of the soundtrack album, which consists of previously issued rock and pop tracks by performers as diverse as Donavan, Yaz, Erasure, Mila Jovovich and The Starand Vocal Band.

Acronyms and other mysteries defined:
