1,000 Miles Off Broadway presents the musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Friday [August 4] at 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday [August 5, 6] at 2 PM. The St. Louis Writers Group presents An Evening of One-Act Plays on Mondays [August 7 and 14], at 6:30 PM at the Soulard Coffee Garden. The Writers Group is dedicated to the development of area playwrights, screenwriters and writers of musical theater. The Soulard Coffee Garden is located at 910 Geyer Avenue in St. Louis. The Entertainment Group presents The Ghost in the Kitchen, an interactive mystery, on Saturday, August 5 beginning at 8 PM. Audience members will be given parts or serve as interested observers as a crime is committed that they will be asked to solve. The O'Fallon Sesquicentennial presents Tales from a Small Town on Saturday and Sunday [August 5 and 6] at 1 PM. Tales from a Small Town is based on the collected stories and oral histories of O'Fallon's past, including the City's practice blackout following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the town's lone policeman stranded on a rooftop, and out-houses that found their way to Main Street one Halloween. Affton CenterStage holds auditions for the World War II drama Song of Survival on Thursday [August 17] at 7 PM and Saturday [August 19] at noon at Mid America Grocers, 5431 Chippewa in St. Louis. Volunteer adult actors, both able-bodied and disabled, are wanted as ensemble members and alternates for The DisAbility Project. The DisAbility Project provides professional and non-professional actors the opportunity to act and create performance pieces. You "must be a team player, able to memorize lines, speak audibly, have reliable transportation and be available most Saturday mornings for the workshop and occasional evenings during the week for rehearsal and/or presentations". The Project rehearses most Saturday mornings from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Washington University School of Medicine Program in Occupational Therapy building at 4444 Forest Park Parkway, in the Central West End, just west of Newstead. First Run Theatre is now accepting scripts for consideration for their 2007-2008 season. Scripts may be one act or full length plays, but must be unpublished and unproduced in their present form. LifeLight Youth Theatre presents a workshop for kids age 11 and up called Summer With Shakespeare.
