- DioGEnies Club(GEnie WRITERS.INK, page 8009, item 11, CATegory
10, TOpic 6). This is a discussion group on the GEnie network run by John
McGowan (q.v.)
- The Hounds of the Internet. This is an Internet-based e-mail
discussion group. They discuss a different story each week and members are
urged to select a Canonical "handle" in their correspondence (mine
is "Jefferson Hope"). John
S. McGowan posts a detailed Hounds FAQ list on alt.fan.holmes
every couple of weeks, which I've also included here as Part 5 of the FAQ list.
- The International Sherlock Holmes Events Guideis a place where
you can post or read details of Sherlockian events around the world (including
meetings, screenings, theatre, talks etc.). To access the latest version
of the guide by email send an email message to: agora@www.undp.org
and leave the subject line blank. In the body of the message simply type:

be emailed back to you.
- The on-line Sherlock Holmes magazine "The Scarlet Threaded Web"
can also be accessed in this way . As the magazine has several pages to it, you
can get hold of HELP and an index of all Paperwork Foundry pages (which includes
the Holmes magazine, a story guide as well as a PWF catalogue) by again sending
an email message to agora@www.undp.org.

- The Wigmore Street Post Office(Prodigy ID BDFS10A) is a Prodigy-based
Sherlockian discussion group run by Bruce Southworth.
- The text of the Canon(The 56 short stories and 4 novels) can
be found in several places, including:
- The Holmes Booklist, maintained by Evelyn Leeper (Evelyn.Leeper@att.com),
is posted monthly to rec.arts.books, alt.fan.holmes,alt.answers,rec.answers,and
news.answers. Copies may be obtained via

- A list of Holmes comics, graphic novels, etc., maintained by
Mark Martinez (mlbm@lanl.gov), is posted

World Wide Web sites:
- The 221B site at www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/andrew.cmu.edu/usr18/mset/www/holmes.html has a number of interesting hot links and is graphically impressive
- The "Baker Street Irregulars" is the title of a site at www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/2547/ put together by Andrew Dobson which, while not in any connected with the BSI, does offer the complete text of the Canon and promises to add sound and image files in the near future.
- The Baker Street Webring is an (hopefully) ever-expanding ring of Sherlockian sites around the world. Find out more at the webring home page at holmes-sherlock.com/221b/baker_street.html
- The magazine Baker Street West has a site at home.earthlink.net/~jpsohl/bsw1.htm. The site has subscription details, table of contents for all past issues, and sample articles.
- The Bluegrass Sherlock Holmes Page at www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/6595/bluegras.htm includes an animated Holmes profile and an image of Jeremy Brett as Holmes with the official mascot of the page, Silver Blaze.
- Author Gary F. Boothe has a page promoting his novel The Secret of Sherlock Holmes at members.aol.com/sherloc109/boothe/holmes.html
- The Bootmakers of Toronto maintain a site for their silver anniversary
symposium, "Lasting Impressions" at www.edu.yorku.ca/~li/. It includes program details, accommodation options, prices and a registration form.
- The Breese Books Sherlock Holmes site at www.sherlockholmes.co.uk/ provides information on the company's Holmesian pastiches.
- The Bull Terriers (The Sherlock Holmes Society of Boston University) have a site atwww.hartingdale.com.au/~jpgareri/BT.html with general information on their scion, a calendar of events, and so on.
- Camden House is an English-language Holmes site based in Germany at www.bakerstreet221b.de/main.htm Features include a substantial gallery of Holmes illustrations, Canonical sound files, a discussion of music in the Canon and a small collection of Sherlockian screen savers and wallpapers. The former are Windows-only but the latter can be used by Macintosh systems as well.
- A condordance of the Canon - complete with word and text searches - is available at www.concordance.com/sherlock.htm
- Tom Crammond, of the Harpooners of the Sea Unicorn, has a personal Sherlockian page at members.accessus.net/~tomcram with links to various HSU material.
- The Danish Baker Street Irregulars (Sherlock Holmes Klubben i Danmark) home page is located at www.sherlockiana.net/shklub/index_en.html (in English) or www.sherlockiana.net/shklub/index.html (in Danish). The site includes an Agony Column, Sherlockian papers, and other items of interest.
- Bill Dorn offers various Sherlockian products for sale at members.aol.com/holmespage. According to Len Cleavelin, "All the products look like first rate productions, and the colored cards (there are two types of cards, colored and black and white) are especially fine, if the
pictures on the page are any indication."
- Mr. Frankland's Home Page ("where it's always 1895") is maintained by David Richardson at members.aol.com/mfrankland/home.htm. Look for information on The Scandalous Bohemians and David's thoughts on things Sherlockian.
- You'll find the Franco-Midland Hardware

- For fans of the Granada TV Sherlock Holmes series, which starred

- The Goose Club of the Alpha Inn's web site is at home.earthlink.net/~jpsohl/gcai.htm. According to the site administrator, John P. Sohl, it includes "brief philosophy of operation, online meeting notices, a few Canonical stories, etc. Nothing special".
- The Harpooners of the Sea Unicorn, a scion based in St. Charles (a suburb of St. Louis) have a site at www.inlink.com/~leonard/hsupage.html
- Hounds regular David Lee Hobbet's web page is called "Hobbetville", and you can find it at www.mainquad.com/gogowebcreator/dhobbet@ncsl.dcr.state.nc.us/hobbetville.html. - Holmes! - a New Musical Adventure is a new original musical based on the characters of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, with book and lyrics by Brett Nicholson and music by Hans Vollrath. Check out www.holmesthemusical.com to find out more
- The Hounds of the Internet Web Guide at users.sisna.com/mebull/hounds.html aims, ultimately, to be "a 'one-stop' list of links to web sites maintained by Hounds". For more information on the Hounds of the Internet e-mail list, check the Hounds FAQ on this site.
- Jens' Sherlock Holmes Page (maintained by Jens Byskov Jensen) at sherlock-holmes.hypermart.net/index.html includes an illustrated tour of Holmesian London and yet another speculation on the real location of 221B.
- German-speaking fans of the Canon will find a site in German at members.aol.com/ohmaurer/index.html maintained by Olaf Maurer.

- London's Sherlock Holmes Hotel has a web site at www.demon.co.uk/hotel-uk/sherlock.html as well as an email address for information at hotel-uk@ccsc.demon.co.uk. Hounds of the Internet member Siobhan McElduff has the following to say about the hotel itself: "I have to say that I've only ever had a drink and a sandwich in the hotel and I didn't find it very exciting. The place is not all that evocative of Holmes (though they do have some
illustrations on the walls) and is rather disappointingly modern. Still,
I've never seen the rooms (which could more athmospheric, perhaps) and the
place looked comfortable."
- The Sherlock Holmes Pub and Restaurant in London (not associated with the hotel, apparently) also has a site at www.users.dircon.co.uk/~sherlock/
- Sebastien Canevet of the French Holmes society Les Dix Sept Marches has created the multi-lingual Sherlock Holmes International site at /www.sherlock-holmes.org. The default language is French, with links to the same information in English, Italian, Danish, German, and Japanese.
- Les Moskowitz maintains The Sherlockian Connection at www.bcpl.lib.md.us/~lmoskowi/holmes.html, where you can also find an archive of the previous week's discussions on The Hounds of the Internet.
- Sherlock S. Holmes, D.D., (yes, that appears to be his real name) is a freelance writer and, as one might expect, a collector of Sherlockiana. His web site is at www.SherlockHolmes.com
- Sherlock's Study at blah.bsuvc.bsu.edu/~sherlock
has less Holmesian material but is worth a look
- Sherlocktron is a web page at
http://members.cox.net/sherlock1/Sherlocktron.html. There is no
fee to use the system and there are no charges to be listed.
Sherlocktron has several major sections:
- A data base of Sherlock Holmes Societies throughout the world.
- A data base of Sherlockian Publications.
- A data base of purveyors of all sorts of Sherlockian items.
What is for sale, who sells it and how to contact them.
- A mailing list for people interested in getting mailings of
Sherlockian material (Announcements, Ads, Flyers, Etc.)

- The Strand Magazine, the publication that first brought Holmes and Watson to the attention of the British public, has resumed publication after a half-century hiatus. Find out more at their home page at www.strandmag.com.
- The Strands Sherlockian Society of Myrtle Beach, SC, has a homepage at www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Cove/3655/index.html. According to Hounds of the Internet web researcher Leonard Cleavelin, "if you're ever in the Myrtle Beach, SC area on the third
Monday of the month, you might want to consider dropping in on the Strand's
meeting (at the local Barnes and Noble outlet)."

- The Universal Sherlock Holmes is a huge listing (approximately 25,000 items) of almost every item relating to Sherlock Holmes at the time of publication (1994). The entire publication is available on the internet at www.lib.umn.edu/special/rare/ush/ush.html. Thanks to Les Moskowitz for this tip.
- "Welcome to the Baker Street Irregulars" is the title of a page maintined by Andrew Dobson at www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/2547/, although it appears to have no connection with the BSI itself.
- Yoxley Old Place - Sherlock Holmes on the Web, is "a site devoted to the life,
times, and many cases of Sherlock Holmes". It's basically a revival of a BBS by the same name that went down in 1995 due to a fire at the home of its creator. You'll find it at holmes-sherlock.com/. The site includes a number of Sherlockian resources, lots of graphics, links, and MIDI music which you may or may not enjoy, depending on how much you like Pachelbel's Kanon in D.
