Laughs
One of the several shows I once did for KDHX-FM
in St. Louis was The
Morning Funnies, a weekly 15-minute show that featured
current and classic comedy. The show bit the dust back in 2002 but the list of
funny web sites that I put together for its web page lives on, along with some
new stuff I've added in the interim.
Last revision:
- Bozo Criminal of the Day
- the War on Drugs Without Corporate Sponsors isn't the only reason our prisons
are full. Here's the rest of the story: true tales of Stupid Crime.
- The Firesign Theatre Web
- a web site that is a damned clever Internet version of their record albums.
Full of sneaky and fun stuff.
- The Funny Times - a monthly magazine
of political and social satire.
- Robert Dickson's Goon Show Page - more than any sane person would want to know about the strangest radio show ever concocted.
- Harry Shearer - From the Edge of
America - the web page of the satirist, multi-voiced actor (he's the man
behind many regulars on The Simpsons) and musician (Spinal Tap).
- The Hour of Slack - slack
off, quit your Conspiracy job, and relax in the comfort of your own delusions
as the Reverend Ivan Stang of the Church
of the SubGenius brings your an hour of rants, oddities, and high weirdness.
- Jonathan Winters' Official Home
Page - a legendary American improv comic (and, in retirement, author and
artist), Winters has had a profound influence on Robin Williams, among others.
- The K Chronicles - The official web site of cartoonist and political satirist Keith Knight. His strips appear in The Funny Times, The L.A. Weekly and at Salon.com, among other places. It's funny stuff; check it out.
- The National Lampoon
- Yes, you thought it died years ago. Well, maybe it did, but like many things
it lives on in cyberspace, with articles, games, downloads and, of course,
cheesy Flash animation. Some of it's even educational.
- New Improved World's Greatest Political Quiz - find out where you are in the spectrum - or is it a circle?
- The Official Dr. Demento Web Site
- music news, games and contests, requests, etc. The Doc was firstest with the
mostest when it comes to funny tunes on the radio.
- The Onion - America's FINEST
news source! And much funnier than the Weekly Standard.
- PythonTrek V: The Final Ripoff - Monty Python meets Star Trek in a demented parody piece by Victor W. Wong.
- PythonWeb - It's....Monty
Python on the Internet! Bring out your dead, but watch out for the Spam on this
vastly silly web site.
- Random
Groucho Marx Quotes - mostly insults, and darned good ones at that.
- Realm of the Exquisite Toaster - "Depress the plunger", as Bela Lugosi said (more or less) in Bride of the Monster.
- The Tom Lehrer Pages
- one of many sites dedicated to one of America's great song satirists (and a
regular on The Morning Funnies)
- Too Stupid to Be
President - the first and still pretty much the best site for Boy George
satire - cartoons, animations, music and, of course, merchandise.
- Why a Duck? - a tribute
to the Marx Brothers, with Marxist pictures, audio and video (including some real
rarities), games and more!
