But Seriously..
All right, not everything on this site is entertainment oriented. Even an actor/radio personality/computer geek/subgenius has his serious moments. Here are links to some sites which, as far as I'm concerned, deserve serious attention.
Last revision:
- Air America Radio - Radio Free USA. Deal with it.
- The American Civil Liberties Union - defending our rights in the real world.
- Bush Whacked USA - "The daily
case against Bush". 'Nuff said.
- Buzzflash.com - Think of it as the leftist version of Fox News.
- The Christian Nation Challenge - a little gauntlet I threw down to theocrats on alt.atheism and similar groups back in 1995 or thereabouts. The original has been archived at various locations, but this is the spell-checked and proof-read one.
- Driver's Education for the Information Superhighway - you have to know how to parallel process!
- The Electronic Freedom Foundation - defending our rights on-line.
- The Guardian Unlimited - appropriately
named, this UK-based newspaper is an excellent source for news without the corporate
filter so common in the USA.
- The Humane Society of the United States
- learn about the latest issues in animal welfare at this interactive source for
the protection of all animals.
- The Inquirer - no, not THAT Inquirer.
This one is source for technology news without the hype or hidden agendas.
- Media Matters is an on-line newsletter designed to "document and correct conservative misinformation in each news cycle". You'd probably be surprised to discover how much of that there is.
- None Dare Call It Treason - this was my response to a profoundly un-American commentary by former St. Louis County Executive Gene McNary on KWMU-FM here in St. Louis. The station declined to air it, so I'm providing it here.
- The Register - another UK-based
technology publication. Their motto: "Biting the hand that feeds IT".
- The Sierra Club - America's oldest,
largest, and most effective environmental organization.
- The Smirking Chimp - filled with scorn for President Junior and his curious crew of theocrats, plutocrats, and dingbats? Boy, have I got a site for you!
- Spywareinfo.com - vital information
on spyware, adware, and other electronic invasions of our privacy by Big Corporations
and Big Government (assuming there's really any difference).
- Urban Birder - my Lovely Wife Sherry's blog about birding in an urban setting and related reflections on nature and our relationship to it.
- The Web Standards Project - a
grassroots coalition fighting for standards that ensure simple, affordable access
to web technologies for all.
- The Yes Men might be comedians, but they might also be subversives AND they might also be the latest incarnation of what we used to refer to as "guerrilla theatre" in the 1960s.
